It’s well and truly Autumn in London now. Wet leaves on the ground, dark in the mornings, rather grey skies and the forecast of a cold winter ahead. I’ve not spent a full winter in England for the last 23 years, having lived in Australia, the USA, and France. I’ll get through this one by making my way through a list of great London restaurants.

Ham Yard in SoHo was lovely for a late summer brunch with some ladies of Twitter, Mia Dixion, Ava Green and Aimee Rose.  Berners Tavern was a favourite so far this year. Set in an impressive, high ceiling room in Ian Schrager’s London Edition Hotel, the food was modern British at its finest. Inventive, hearty and interesting and the company of my gentleman made it all the finer.

High on my wishlist before Christmas is the contemporary Charlie’s Bistro set in Browns Hotel in Mayfair. Crisp white tablecloths, marble, and antique wood complete the old school setting. Of course, it’s not all Michelin that makes my stomach happy. I had the first experience in Five Guys near Covent Garden with a client a couple of months ago.

Can you beat a well-made burger, crispy fries, and ketchup before a theatre outing? Winter food is the best thing about the coming season. Hearty stews and soups, baked potatoes and steak, rich gravy and roast beef. Bring it on!
